Space-Time Transference
How does 'watching something' in real-time, change your perception? Co-presence? The idea for this project is to explore the world by using customized streaming media and a site-specific experience which exploits location-based media. What kind of story develops from this media flow in Pasadena and what is the value of a civic level of experience has a different effect from watching a television or a remote web cam?

Project detail
There are a total of ten convoys attached with cameras, moving around according to the concept of twinning. Convoys no.1-5 move on land. Convoys no.6-10, flow across the sky within the twinning area.
As the moving image shows below, even though 10 convoys are moving together, they are not fixed. They have very flexible distances each other.
Different camera angles enable viewers in Pasadena to see various perspectives of the same location. The image below shows the concept of twinning how, when and where convoys keep moving around the world throughout the entire year.

Buildings of each intersection in the twinning area are superimposed with huge display billboards which show moving images from convoys.

The intriguing thing happens when they (images of twinning places) are overlaid on the billboard. Even though the physical space of Pasadena area is fixed depend on the distance and location between convoys, it is rearranged into the virtual space which is laying out on the billboards continuously differently. Virtual spaces are sometimes larger or sometimes smaller than physical space. In addition, projected images with multiple perspectives of camera angle make people experience the same place differently.

Finally, other questions …
What if people are able to control floating convoys with their cell-phones?
What if people can choose the next destination for the convoys?
